shut down windows 8 Power Button on Windows 8
Just installed Windows 8 and have no idea where the power button went for the option to shut down, restart, or hibernate your computer? Don’t worry! It’s still just as easy to do this on Windows 8 as it was on previous versions of Windows.

New things take some time to get used to but once you become familiar with the Windows 8 interface, it all makes perfect sense and is really quite great. The first time I had to shut down my PC running Windows 8, I had no idea where to go so I went to the start menu, logged out, and then clicked the option to shut down my computer. Surely there must be an easier way to do this and I am just too stupid to figure it out, I thought.

To easily reach the power button, all you have to do is hover your mouse pointer to the top right corner. This brings up the right menu called the “Charms Bar”. Just scroll down and click the Settings button (cogwheel icon). Tada! You’ll see the Windows 8 power button where you can turn off your PC.

I suppose the only confusing thing is that you have to turn off your computer from a settings menu. However, it’s a simple two step process so now that you know where the Windows 8 shutdown option is, you shouldn’t have any problem using it.

Wow. That seems like a lot of work just to shut down. And what if you just wanna log out and log in as another user? Maybe to do some Admin cleaning.

I just click the desktop and hit Alt+F4. It works on every version of windows.
